History Has Repeated Itself

At the end of July 1958 Philip O'Connor left London on the repaired Cyclemaster and headed for old and new haunts in Suffolk...As he pedalled out of London...he writes, 'the literary vapours rolled off with the alcoholic ones'. He claims that he was tired of being 'an interesting person' and tired of being 'operatic' in his 'vacuum'.
